Game Leaderboards Now Working!!(!!!)

Ohhhhh yeah...

This is HUGE news, as far as I'm concerned. I've finally gotten the initial kinks worked out of the Leaderboard system! Seriously cool. As with everything on the site at this time, consider this a "BETA" feature & please let me know if there are problems or if you don't think it's working right.

This means there are now a ton of supported games in the system that will allow you to save high scores! (Dang, I can't stop throwing down !'s all over, which is annoying, but I can't help it!)

!!!

Not every game supports the leaderboards, so I'm working on a visual cue about whether a game tracks scores or not. I also think it would be nice to just have a separate page to load up just the games where scores are tracked, for those of you who really want to focus on getting onto high score boards.

For now, the only place you can see these 'boards is when you're inside the games that support them. I'm working on getting the data pulled out and onto other places on the site, but for now, this is a big deal and wasn't easy... and a LONG time coming!

Another cool feature that comes along with this is that many of the games support a sweet feature called "Challenges". These vary greatly with each game that's enabled them, but basically you need to accomplish some task to complete the Challenge and get some sort of reward. The rewards are saved with your account and will show up on the Leaderboard window.

...well, I don't know any better ways to describe this. If you want to see one of the games in action, check out Castle Clout: Return of the King. The game's pretty good (some irritating interface flaws, IMO, but that's for another discussion). Here's what the leaderboard itself looks like for Castle Clout: Return of the King (and take this as a preview of things to come as I integrate the 'boards into the site more!):

If you look at the leaderboard, you'll notice two entries for "Hoza". One of them was created when I wasn't logged into FlashGamePost.com, & the other was automatically saved when I beat my old score since I was logged in here! Nice!

So.. you're going to get the best features if you create a free account here and log in before you start playing these games. When you get a high score in a supported game, it's going to just drop your score right up there, slick as snot on a frog's egg in jelly. For now, anonymous players can still save high scores, but later, you won't have access to scores saved now if you don't get them linked to your account.

Anyway... I really hope you folks enjoy this new feature! It should be really fun.

Get to playing!!
